California Request to Renew Restraining Order — Elder or Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention is a process that allows a person to request a renewal of their restraining order against an abuser. This includes orders of protection, restraining orders, and other no-contact orders. The form is intended to be used by individuals who are age 65 or older, or are responsible for the care of a dependent adult. The request must include a description of the violence or abuse experienced, the reasons why the restraining order needs to be extended, and the duration of the extension. There are two types of California Request to Renew Restraining Order — Elder or Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention: 1) Elder Abuse Prevention (CAPO) and 2) Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention (DAACO). CAPO is used to protect elderly individuals from physical, emotional, or financial abuse, while DAACO is used to protect vulnerable adults from physical, emotional, or financial abuse.
