Alaska Designation of Tribal Representative (ADR) is a process by which federally recognized tribes in Alaska may designate a tribal representative to serve as their official voice in dealings with the federal government. Through this process, tribes are able to directly engage with the federal government on matters affecting their communities, including tribal sovereignty, economic development, and services for their members. There are two types of ADR: Alaska Native Village Representatives (ANFR) and Alaska Native Regional Corporation Representatives (AN RCR). Airs represent individual Alaska Native villages, while Arcs represent their respective Alaska Native Regional Corporations. Both types of representatives are authorized to serve as the official tribal representatives in negotiations and interactions with the federal government, including engaging in consultation and other activities.
