An Alaska Affidavit of Tribal Membership is a legal document used by Alaska Native tribes to verify an individual’s tribal membership. It is sworn to by a qualified tribal official and serves as a record of the individual’s tribal identity. The Alaska Affidavit of Tribal Membership is used for various purposes, such as applying for tribal benefits or services, providing proof of tribal identity for legal matters, or establishing ancestry. There are two types of Alaska Affidavit of Tribal Membership: the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (AN CSA) Affidavit and the Indian Reorganization Act (IRA) Affidavit. The CSA Affidavit is issued to individuals who are direct descendants of original enrolled of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. The IRA Affidavit is issued to individuals who are direct descendants of original enrolled of the Indian Reorganization Act.
