Nebraska Summons — Service on the United States is a legal process of delivering documents to the United States government in order to start a lawsuit. It can be served in two ways, either through personal service upon the United States Attorney or through substituted service upon the United States Attorney General. There are two types of Nebraska Summons — Service on the United States: Summons to Appear and Summons to Answer. Summons to Appear requires the United States Attorney to appear in court on the date stated in the summons. Summons to Answer requires the United States Attorney to answer the complaint within a certain period of time. Both types of summons are issued by a court in Nebraska or by a party to the lawsuit.
