Maharashtra cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has announced that the government will provide ?1.25 lakh per hectare rent annually to farmers who lease their land to the government for 30 years to set up solar feeders. This rent amount will increase by 3% every year.
"The government will pay Rs 1.25 lakh per hectare as rent for land taken on lease for this scheme. The plan is to generate 7000 megawatts of electricity for which 28,000 acres of land will be needed. We intend to start the scheme by December 2025," he added.
Applicants shall be empanelled as per the requirement of MSEDCL to provide their land to solar power developers on lease/ sale basis. The tenure for lease shall be 30 years from the date of signing of lease agreement.
