There is nothing illegal about what you are doing. A title is just proof you own the quad and it is verified you own it by the state. You reqlly dont need one if only riding on private property. But if you ever go to sell it, you will run into issues.
Laws & Regulations All riders in Minnesota who were born after July 1st, 1987 are REQUIRED to complete an approved ATV Safety Course, and carry the Minnesota ATV Safety Certificate with them while riding on public lands.
If you're purchasing a new ATV from a Minnesota dealer, they are required to register the vehicle for you. Otherwise, to register an ATV, you must go to a deputy registrar of motor vehicles or the state DNR license center in St. Paul. Bring a record of your ATV's make, model, year, and total width and engine size.
However, many drivers keep the insurance envelope from their insurance company in the vehicle, which contains their address. I would recommend storing documents that contain personal information out of your vehicle when you can. Minnesota does not require you to have a “vehicle registration card” in your vehicle.
