May I continue to carry my weapon(s)? No. Any expired Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) license is invalid and it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon in the state of California if you do not have a valid CCW license granted by a county within the state.
By law you are required to submit your renewal application at least 60 days prior to expiration of your current firearms permit. Also, if your firearms permit is expired, you are ineligible to renew and must apply for a new initial firearms permit, including completing the required training for an initial permit.
A BSIS Firearms Permit expires two years from the date of issuance. Approximately 90 days prior to the Firearms Permit's expiration date, a renewal reminder will be mailed to the permitholder's address of record.
