Students interested in living on campus can request housing in October but do not have to decide until November when invitations are released to select a housing option. Both processes continue through the semester and there are many options available on and off campus.
Contact the admissions office and tell them you want to cancel your enrollment. Since you didn't start yet, you can't withdraw, it must be done through admissions. You can also defer your admission if you'd rather start in the spring. Also be sure to contact the housing office to cancel your contract.
Requests are managed completely within the eLiving system. If students agree to a room switch, the eLiving system will automatically update each student's room assignment. Once room assignments are posted in eLiving, the Room Exchange eBoard is available for students to use to manage their room assignment.
You may request one roommate, or you may apply without a roommate and the Housing Occupancy Office will use your Lifestyle Profile and College House preferences to match you with a roommate or suitemates. If you request a roommate: Make sure you list the same College House preferences in the same order.
A great way to connect with potential roommates who have similar interests is through Penn State University Park's student organizations and clubs. Attend events and meetings related to your hobbies and interests to meet like-minded individuals.
Incoming First-Year Students If a student is interested in rooming with a friend, both students must indicate each other as roommate preferences on the HFS Contract using their Penn State Access Account (i.e. abc123).
Welcome to the Penn State family! First-year students who are accepted to University Park are required to live on campus and guaranteed housing. The Housing and Food Service (HFS) Contract is included in the offer of admission to Penn State, students do not need to make a separate request for housing.
