Suites are like apartments, just without the kitchen and dining room. Our apartment/suite-style residence halls include Allegany, Baltimore, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Kent, Leonardtown, Montgomery, Prince George's, St. Mary's, Talbot, and Washington.
First-year students are guaranteed on-campus housing provided they complete their Residence Hall Housing and Dining Services Agreement, Enrollment Confirmation, and enrollment deposit by May 1 (December 15 for spring semester).
Many colleges have a matching system to pair you with your future roommate. If they do not, they might do it manually within their housing department. If you are going to an in-state college or going to a college with someone you know, you have the opportunity to choose your future roommate if you so wish.
Students will be assigned a date & time to select their room assignment based on the date they applied for admission to UMD. All rooms will be on a first come first served basis.
The floor is mixed gender, and suites are usually single gender (2 rooms of 2 people share a bathroom between the rooms). If you're looking for gender inclusive housing, it is possible!

Utilize websites and apps designed for finding roommates, such as: Roommates Craigslist Facebook groups specific to your area Roomster or SpareRoom Ask friends, family, or colleagues if they know anyone looking for a roommate. Personal connections can lead to more trustworthy arrangements.
If you already have a roommate in mind, you can submit a roommate request by emailing us with your full name and University ID numbers. Both roommates need to email to ensure it's a mutual request.
Talk about sleep schedules, how often you think you'll have people over, how often you'll call home (or need the room to yourself for some other reason), cleanliness levels, etc.
I think it's important to find someone who is pretty similar to you socially. Like if you go out a lot/stay in a lot, find someone similar to that. Find out how much they like to party, if they plan on having a lot of ppl in the room, how they feel about dating and have ppl over, etc etc.
