The Law Dean's Scholarships are merit-based funds awarded by the Admissions Committee shortly after an applicant is admitted to the Law School. Recipients will be notified directly by the Office of Admissions. Scholarships are awarded to students based on outstanding academic achievement and do not have to be repaid.
The University of Suffolk International Merit Scholarship (2025/26) is a scheme designed to reward international students who meet or exceed our published entry requirements (based on the country where you obtained your qualifications).
Merit scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year range between $5,000 and $25,000 for new students who are admitted to an undergraduate degree program. These scholarships can be renewed for up to four years and are available regardless of income.
Federal Work Study Recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need and priority is given to those students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant. Awards are typically $2,500 per academic year.
Dean's Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to full-time entering freshmen and transfer students. Recipients are selected on the basis of merit. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for renewal. David Der Hagopian MBA '76 Scholarship: This award assists a student of the Sawyer Business School.
Applicants (including international students) are automatically considered for merit-based aid at the time of admission to Suffolk. Merit scholarships are competitive and limited. To received maximum consideration for merit-based funding, students should meet all published Admission deadlines.
Suffolk Tuition Promise: This program provides scholarship funding for undergraduate students who earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6. Applicants must have been enrolled at Suffolk University for both the fall and spring of the prior academic year, and have no D, F or Incomplete grades.
Some scholarship committees only consider applicants whose GPA meets a certain threshold. Minimum requirements range from around 2.0 on the lower end to 3.75 or higher for competitive academic scholarships. Generally speaking, a 3.0 GPA or higher will give you a decent shot at qualifying for a variety of scholarships.
The Local Welfare Assistance Scheme (LWAS) helps those experiencing financial hardship. There are lots of reasons why you may be in hardship and if you are eligible, we can provide financial help. To receive help from LWAS you must: Be able to demonstrate you are in financial hardship.
Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP): Help for people who are in receipt of Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit. It can be used as a top up for rent shortfall, deposits, rent in advance, to assist people affected by a benefit cap, or as a spare room subsidy.
