Fruits without seeds are most desirable for birds because they are an excellent source of energy from the sugars found abundantly within them. They'll enjoy blueberries, raspberries, currants, blackberries, holly berries, juniper berries, oranges, plums, apples, grapes, cherries, crab apples, and more.

I try to not put any feeders closer than 50 feet from a bird house. Depending on the bird species you're wanting to attract to a house you may need more space; or at least on a different side of your house.

Remove the core of the apple, stick the sunflower seeds in on the top, and push the sticks through the bottom of the apple to make perches for hungry birds. Tie your string to one of the sticks and thread it through the middle so you can hang your feeder!
