“A massive worm who dwells in the corruption.” The Eater of Worlds is a pre-Hardmode Corruption-themed worm boss. It can be summoned when three Shadow Orbs are destroyed in a Corruption world, or when a player uses Worm Food anywhere in the Corruption or Underground Corruption biome.
Use the map device to add The Eater of Worlds influence to a tier 11+ map and defeat the map boss. The tier 11 map boss will drop a quest invitation Writhing Invitation, to initiate the boss fight against Infinite Hunger. Use the invitation in the map device to open the map and defeat the Infinite Hunger.

The invitation drops after defeating The Infinite Hunger and following the quest steps. After finishing the the Eater of Worlds quest, tradeable versions of the Screaming Invitation will drop by the boss in the 28th T14+ Map which is influenced by the Eater of Worlds. This can be repeated every subsequent 28 maps.
A covenant with the End of the Cycle will pretty much spell the end of the game unless you are very good at coming back from the brink of destruction. Despite all its might, defeating the entity is not impossible.
The End of the Cycle is a event you can get through the Shroud that gives you a lot of bonuses for roughly 50-60 months, before causing all of your inhabited worlds to be destroyed and turned into inhabitable "Shrouded Worlds".
Eaters of Souls spawn from both Ebonstone, Corrupt grass, Ebonsand, Ebonsandstone (if on surface), Hardened Ebonsand (also if on surface), and Purple Ice. with large groups coming from chasms. They circle the player at a distance before periodically rushing in.
Spawn. The Eater of Worlds can be summoned by crafting Worm Food at a Demon Altar, or by destroying three Shadow Orbs. It cannot spawn naturally like the Eye of Cthulhu, or some of the other bosses. It can only be summoned in The Corruption.
