Every Florida resident who has been certified by one (1) Florida licensed physician as being totally and permanently disabled as of January 1, but not requiring the use of a wheelchair for mobility, can qualify for a $5,000 (Effective January 1, 2023) Disability Exemption on the assessed value of the property.
Filing Instructions for the $5,000 Disabled Veteran Exemption: You must present a certificate from the U.S. Government or U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, along with a signed request for the exemption and proof of Florida residence to our office. There is no additional application or form to fill out.

Eligible resident veterans with a VA certified service-connected disability of 10 percent or greater shall be entitled to a $5,000 property tax exemption.
Since VA disability income is non-taxable, it generally doesn't have to be reported. If disability benefits are your only income, you likely won't have to file an income tax return at all. If you have other taxable income, you will still have to file as usual.
$5000 Disabled Veterans Exemption Ex–service member who is a permanent resident of the State of Florida, and who has a service connected disability of at least 10% is entitled to a $5000 exemption.
