A juror summons is a process issued by the court commanding the appearance of an individual to attend and be available for duty on a petit or grand jury at a specified location, time and date.
Therefore, jurors are requested to dress in a manner that is respectful to the litigants and the court. You may wear comfortable but appropriate business-like clothing. Shorts, jeans, t-shirts, tank tops and sweatshirts should not be worn.
If you have a compelling reason to be excused from jury service (extreme inconvenience or undue hardship), you must notify the jury office in writing. Any request must be prepared by the juror and detail the hardship. You may include any attachments you deem appropriate to aid the Court in rendering a decision.
Any person failing to show good cause for non-compliance with the jury summons may be fined not more than $1000.00 or imprisoned not more than three (3) days, or both, pursuant to Title 28, USC Section 1866(g).
Please allow 5-7 business days before contacting the automated juror information system at 1-866-363-8154 for your status.
You can find out if you need to report for jury service by logging in to eJuror On-line. You'll need your 9 digit Juror Participant Number located on the front of your Summons for Jury Service. Once you log in, click on the Current Status link on the left side of the web page.
To determine if you are required to report for jury duty, visit the Juror Reporting Page after p.m. the evening before your summons date. Jurors may also receive email or text messages regarding their service.
The county or district clerk will send you a card in the mail with the date, time and place to report for jury duty. If you have further questions, phone numbers and website information are shown on the card.
Jurors reporting for service should wear clothing appropriate for an appearance in court. Shorts, t-shirts, uniforms or clothing containing statements or offensive symbols are not permitted. All hats must be removed when in a courtroom. Comfortable clothing is also advisable.
