Laws on Working Hours for Minors in North Carolina For example, you can't work more than 3 hours on a school day, no more than 8 hours on a non-school day and no more than 18 hours each week when school is in session. However, you can work up to 40 hours in a week when school is not in session.
As a general rule, the FLSA sets 14 years old as the minimum age for employment, and limits the number of hours worked by minors under the age of 16.
