TRANSMITTAL TO ANOTHER COUNTY. (a) Original Judgment. Upon request of a person holding a judgment, the clerk shall transmit a certified copy to the clerk of the District Court in another county of this State and shall maintain a record of the transmittal.

RULE 3-624. When a judgment has been assigned in writing by the judgment holder, the assignment may be filed in the court where the judgment was entered.

A party whose judgment has been amended on a motion to amend the judgment may file a motion for new trial within ten days after entry of the amended judgment.

If the court finds that there is a substantial and sufficient basis for an actual controversy as to the merits of the action, the court shall order the judgment by confession opened, modified, or vacated and permit the defendant to file a responsive pleading. (f) Delay of Enforcement.

Current Rule 2-341 precludes a party from filing an amendment to a pleading without leave of court less than 30 days before a scheduled trial date.

The following defenses shall be made by motion to dismiss filed before the answer, if an answer is required: (1) lack of jurisdiction over the person, (2) improper venue, (3) insufficiency of process, and (4) insufficiency of service of process. If not so made and the answer is filed, these defenses are waived.

TIME FOR FILING ANSWER. (a) General Rule. A party shall file an answer to an original complaint, counterclaim, cross-claim, or third-party claim within 30 days after being served, except as provided by sections (b) and (c) of this Rule.

The Best Evidence Rule, as set forth in Md. Rule 5-1002, states: “To prove the content of a writing, recording, or photograph, the originalwriting, recording, or photograph is required, except as otherwise provided in these rules or by statute.” (Emphasis added).
