Except for motions made during a hearing or during trial, motions are required to be in writing. They must also be filed in court and served on the opposing party's attorney (or the party if not represented by counsel). If the motion is contested, the opposing attorneys will also file papers opposing the motion.
Legal Aid helps people with low-income. Households with income less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines may qualify. In addition to inquiring about income, we prioritize cases where people face significant risk and Legal Aid attorneys can make a positive difference.
Typically, if your total monthly income is at or below 187.5%, of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, Counsel must be appointed. However, there are a variety of factors that are taken into consideration.

Rule 53 - Magistrates (A)Appointment A court of record may appoint one or more magistrates who shall have been engaged in the practice of law for at least four years and be in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio at the time of appointment.
