NYS ID is issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and provides proof of identity for various state-level services. IDNYC, on the other hand, is issued by the City of New York and offers benefits like access to city services, cultural institutions, and discounts.
Cardholders who change their address or name should update the information appearing on the card. Please make an appointment at any Enrollment Center and bring your old card along with a document from the IDNYC document list reflecting the new address or name.
Refer to this step by step process to update your address: Create a MyDMV account. If you already have an account, skip to step 2. Sign in to MyDMV. Under “DMV Services,” click “Change My Address.” Enter the required information. Click the “Enter and Verify” button. Keep the confirmation email for your records.
You can make an appointment online or by calling 311. Can I Change My Card Information Online? You will be able to update most information on your card when renewing online, including your address and gender designation. For change of address, you may be asked to upload and submit proof of residency documents.
