Diorio, 62, told CBJ during an interview that the death of her husband at age 68 in 2018 convinced her that, if given the chance, she would retire while she was able to enjoy it. She remarried last year. After she retires, Diorio plans to stay in Charlotte. She doesn't plan on working.

Adams, Ph. D. was sworn in immediately as the 100th woman elected to the 113th Congress. Congresswoman Adams was elected to her fifth full term representing the 12th Congressional District of North Carolina on November 8, 2022.
