Every child within district boundaries has a resident school near their home, but there are also a lot of other options to explore. Some of these schools are so popular there isn't room for every family that wants to enroll. For a chance to attend, families must complete a “Choices” application.
LACES is a full magnet school and all student wishing to enroll in our school must apply through the Choices application. The application window for the 2024-2025 school year will open on October 1, 2024 and close on November 15, 2024.
Sibling Priority: Sibling priority only applies to currently enrolled siblings of students that will attend the same program next school year. To receive sibling priority, applicant(s) need to list all of the siblings on the application. Siblings must live at the same address.

Zones of Choice are a part of LAUSD's efforts to increase the number of personalized educational options for students. Instead of having a single assigned resident school, students living in a Zone have a number of school options.
The Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies is one of the most difficult magnet schools to get into.
While most of the 664,774 students in the L.A. Unified School District attend their neighborhood school, there are opportunities for students to choose a different school experience, such as magnet and charter schools and more.
The CHOICES application is used to apply to the Magnet Program. Applications are available at LAUSD schools and Los Angeles Public Libraries, or you can apply online at apply.lausd. Applications must be submitted to the Office of Student Integration Services by the deadline.
For the 2016-17 school year, the district received 72,515 applications for 27,570 magnet openings, so about two in three students who applied to a magnet program were not accepted.
