Pennsylvania law requires employers to withhold Pennsylvania personal income tax from employees' compensation in two common cases: When resident employees perform services within or outside Pennsylvania; and. When nonresident employees perform services within Pennsylvania.

The registration is done by filing form PA-100 with PDOR. You can get an EIN/TIN by mail, fax, or through the online application form on the IRS's website. It takes four days to get an EIN by fax, four weeks by mail, and around 15 minutes when done online.

If your employer is required to withhold the LST and does not, you should inform your employer that they are required to withhold and submit the LST. In some instances, the federal government does not withhold LST for its employees. In this case, the individual is responsible for paying the LST.

If your withheld taxes from the city are not on your W2, Box 19, contact your employer and request a corrected W2 so you can file taxes accurately.

Employers with worksites located in Pennsylvania, including residences of home-based employees, are required to withhold and remit the local EIT and LST for employees.

If your employer didn't have federal tax withheld, contact them to have the correct amount withheld for the future. When you file your tax return, you'll owe the amounts your employer should have withheld during the year as unpaid taxes. You may need a corrected Form W-2 reflecting additional FICA earnings.

Pennsylvania does not have a form equivalent to the federal Form W-4 because the personal income tax is a flat rate of tax and does not change ing to income brackets. If the employee feels that they need may owed more in taxes, they are able to files estimated payments directly to the PA Dept of Revenue.
