Look again, because there is just such a trail, the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT). It's 4,400 miles long, the longest hiking trail in the United States, and stretches from New York to North Dakota, winding its way through seven states.
Appointments may be delayed or cancelled, including if NCTS are not given accurate information and/or are unable to contact the person who has made the Appointment and/or the primary cardholder for the Appointment.
If a vehicle's NCT is "cancelled", it means that the scheduled NCT appointment has been revoked. This could happen for a few reasons, such as the vehicle not being brought in for its inspection, or the owner cancelling the appointment.

Michigan hosts the most North Country National Scenic Trail miles of all eight states: 1,180. It crosses both peninsulas and the Mackinac Bridge.
The western end is at Lake Sakakawea State Park in North Dakota, and the eastern end is at a junction with the Appalachian Trail in Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest.
But, 4600 miles at about 20mpd would require 7 to 9 months. less than 10, no award or recognition for thru-hiking or section hiking.
From the grandeur of the Adirondack Mountains in New York, it meanders westward through the hardwood forests of Pennsylvania, through the countryside of Ohio and southern Michigan, along the shores of the Great Lakes, and through the glacier-carved forests, lakes, and streams of northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.
