A DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) statement, also called “statement of commitment to diversity” or “contributions to diversity statement,” is a brief (1–2 pages) essay in which you are highlighting your contributions with respect to DEI within your classroom, university, and discipline.

Identify specific areas of diversity, such as socioeconomic or racial diversity, valued by the organization.

Write about specific things you have done to help students from underrepresented backgrounds succeed. Highlight any programs for underrepresented students you've participated in.
