To file a complaint against your doctor (for unprofessional conduct or incompetent practice), find your state medical board and follow the steps explained on the state medical board's website. State medical boards allow patients to file complaints either online, by email, phone or standard mail.
To file a complaint, start by visiting the LARA website and navigating to the “File a Complaint” section. Download and complete the complaint form, providing as much detail as possible about the alleged abuse.

You can complain by phone, in person, or in writing by email or mail. Phone or email first to tell the company about the problem and to try to resolve it. You should be able to learn pretty quickly whether the problem will be resolved.

File a complaint with government or consumer programs File a complaint with your local consumer protection office. Notify the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in your area about your problem. The BBB tries to resolve complaints against companies. Report scams and suspicious communications to the Federal Trade Commission.
Court Records If an individual has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against a medical professional or medical facility in California, there will be a record of this in the court where the case was filed. Most court records can be found online by doing a little bit of research about your court jurisdiction and cases.
Writing an Effective Complaint The effective com- plaint letter is written to the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital or health plan and has four ele- ments: 1) a compliment, 2) detailed description of the event, 3) expression of disappointment, and 4) a proposed resolution.
