Withdrawing from a class could affect your financial aid if it means you are no longer making ``satisfactory academic progress.'' Each college defines satisfactory academic progress differently, but wherever you go to school, you must maintain it to keep receiving financial aid.
You must go to the student services office in your college or regional campus student services office to initiate the withdrawal process.

A dropped class often results in a "W" on your transcript, which may negatively affect your overall GPA (depending on your school's policies). There may also be indirect results down the line if you can't take other classes you need or are unable to make up certain credits.

If you must withdraw, you should always withdraw officially by going to your advisor or dropping the class on your student account. You should not withdraw from a class by not going to the class anymore.
Note that to order official transcripts, students will need to order through a third party called Parchment. You can navigate to the Parchment website through the Collin website.
The action of withdrawing from a course is taken after the add/drop courses deadline. Dropping a course refers to having the course removed from the student's schedule before the add/drop deadline.
