If your machine's cyan, magenta, or yellow toners run out, you can choose Mono in the printer driver to allow you to keep printing. You'll be able to keep printing until the black toner runs out. When the black toner runs out, you won't be able to print until you replace it.
Click on File and Print. In the Print dialogue window choose Properties or Preferences (varies from Program to Program). The Printing Preferences window will now open. You can set the feature back to print in colour under Advanced by turning the Print in Grayscale feature OFF.
Color or Black and White: If you plan to print in color, both inkjet and laser printers can provide the vivid colors and richly hued images you need. If you are using the black cartridge, prints are in black and white (grayscale). If using the color cartridge, colors print normally but black prints lighter than usual. You can continue to print until the print quality becomes unacceptable.
Go to the Control Panel and select Printers and Devices. Find and right-click your printer from the list of devices. Click on properties. Go to Ink set and select Color. Go to the Color Setting option and click Apply.
If you run out of one of the ink cartridges, your printer will NOT function without it being replaced. It needs that one color to mix in with the other colors to perform the secondary colors on printouts.
Check Printer Settings: Open the document you want to print and go to print settings. Make sure the color printing option is selected. Look for options like “Color” or “Black & White” and ensure that “Color” is chosen. Sometimes, there's a “Print in Grayscale” option.
