Arrest records do not get expunged.They are a matter of public record. As long as there's no conviction, the arrest may be eligible to be expunged, or erased. If you are arrested in Travis County the first thing to do is call a lawyer. Do not think you can handle your case on your own. The applicant must complete a "Petition for Dismissal" form for each case, and submit it to the Superior Court where the conviction occurred. Even if you are arrested and the charge is dismissed, it's only part of the legal battle. You will still have the arrest on your public record. If you completed deferred adjudication probation, your criminal record lists the arrest but not the conviction.
