In Alabama, potential jurors are randomly selected from voter registration lists, driver's license records, and other official sources. These individuals receive a summons requiring them to appear at the courthouse on a specified date for jury duty.
Jurors summoned for jury service for either a one-week or a two-week jury term. Jurors receive a letter prior to the jury term notifying them of the length of service. While most jurors are not at the Justice Center every day of their service, they are “on call” for the duration of the jury term.
For jurors selected to serve on a jury, compensation is set at $58 per day, or part of a day, until the completion of their service. A check will be issued to the address to which your summons was originally mailed unless you specify an alternative address.
