To reopen your claim, simply start claiming weekly benefits again. You may receive a form in the mail about the period of time for which you did not claim benefits. This is called “Break in Claim” form. Complete it and mail it back to the address shown on the form as soon as possible.

You will need to contact your state unemployment office and have them amend the application.

If you are still unemployed and want to continue receiving benefits, you must file a new unemployment claim the week after your Benefit Year Ending (BYE) date. You can find your BYE date in the DOL's online services system under “Payment History.”
