The Consular Officer may request that a Form I-134, Affidavit of Support be submitted by the U.S. citizen fiancé(e). The U.S. citizen fiancé(e) will need to submit Form I-864 to USCIS with the application for adjustment of status to that of legal permanent resident following the marriage.
Form I-134 is used when a U.S. citizen or green card holder agrees to become a financial sponsor of a travel visa or a K1 and K2 visa.
You may present evidence that you are able to financially support yourself or that your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) is able to provide support. The Consular Officer may request that a Form I-134, Affidavit of Support be submitted by the U.S. citizen fiancé(e).
Most family-based immigrants and some employment-based immigrants use this form to show they have adequate means of financial support and are not likely to rely on the U.S. government for financial support.
Widows and widowers of U.S. citizens may, regardless of the duration of their marriage, self-petition for or continue with their application for U.S. residence, so long as they do so within the two years of the U.S. citizen's death and do not remarry. They will not need to submit an I-864 Affidavit of Support.

A financial sponsor, including a petitioner, must be at least 18 years old and either a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (LPR). The sponsor must also have a domicile (residence) in the United States.

This form is required in most familybased green card applications, including CR1 and IR1 spouse visas and some employmentbased green card applications. The "Affidavit of Support" is a signed document to accept financial responsibility for a family member who is seeking a green card. 1 fiancee visa couple must complete both the I134 and the I864 forms. However, the forms are not filed together. Some sponsors temporarily reside abroad and intend to move to the US once a family member's immigrant visa is issued. There is no need to present an affidavit of support for a K-1 fiancé(e) visa when filing Form I-129F. Note: Mistakes in completing the I-864 are a common reason for delays with an immigrant visa application.
