Nebraska Order for Service by Publication is a court order issued by a Nebraska court to establish a legal process for providing notice to a party who cannot be located when a lawsuit has been filed against them. This order permits service of process to be made through the publication of a legal notice in a newspaper of general circulation. There are two types of Nebraska Order for Service by Publication: Order for Service by Publication in Civil Cases and Order for Service by Publication in Probate Cases. In both types, the court will order that the defendant be notified of the lawsuit by publishing a notice in a newspaper of general circulation in the county where the case is pending. This notice must include information about the lawsuit, including the date and nature of the action, the name and address of the plaintiff’s attorney, and information about how the defendant can respond to the lawsuit.
