Wisconsin Order on Petition for Summary Assignment (Formal Administration) is a document issued by the court to appoint an administrator to oversee the formal administration of a deceased person's estate. The order is issued by the court after the petition for summary assignment of a deceased person's estate has been filed. This document is issued to determine who will be responsible for the management of the estate until a formal probate process can be completed. There are two types of Wisconsin Order on Petition for Summary Assignment (Formal Administration): voluntary assignment and court-appointed assignment. In a voluntary assignment, the court appoints an administrator that was nominated by the deceased person's estate. In a court-appointed assignment, the court appoints an administrator that was not nominated by the estate. Both types of assignment require the administrator to collect, preserve, and secure the assets of the deceased person's estate, as well as to pay any debts or taxes that are due.
