A Washington Stalking No-Contact Order (also known as an anti-harassment order or restraining order) is a court order issued by a Washington State court that prohibits the defendant from contacting the plaintiff directly or indirectly. The order is meant to protect a person from the threat of future stalking or harassment. It can also prohibit the defendant from entering the plaintiff’s residence, workplace, or school, or coming within a certain distance of the plaintiff. There are two types of Washington Stalking No-Contact Orders: temporary and permanent. A temporary order lasts up to 14 days; a permanent order can last up to one year. Both orders may include provisions for other forms of protection, such as relocation assistance or protection for a plaintiff’s family members.
