Washington Order on Motion for Genetic Testing is a court order issued in the state of Washington that allows for the collection of DNA evidence for use in criminal investigations and other legal proceedings. This type of order is commonly used to establish paternity, to determine the identity of a suspect in a criminal case, or to verify the genetic relationship between a child and its biological parent(s). There are two types of Washington Order on Motion for Genetic Testing: the Order for Collection of DNA Specimens and the Order for Genetic Testing. The Order for Collection of DNA Specimens requires that a person provide a sample for DNA testing. The Order for Genetic Testing requires that a sample be tested for a specific genetic marker, such as a particular gene or chromosome abnormality. Both types of orders are issued by a judge and require the presence of an attorney for the party requesting the testing.
