A Washington Denial Order (WHO) is a prohibition issued by the state of Washington that prevents an individual from acquiring, possessing, or controlling a firearm. There are two types of Washington Denial Orders: a Voluntary Denial Order and an Involuntary Denial Order. A Voluntary Denial Order is issued by an individual who voluntarily relinquishes their firearms rights and waives their right to possess firearms. An Involuntary Denial Order is issued by the Washington State Department of Licensing after a court has determined that an individual is a danger to themselves or others. Both types of orders are designed to protect public safety and limit an individual’s access to firearms.
