A Washington Final Parentage Order is a court order that legally establishes the parent-child relationship between a child and one or more adults in the state of Washington. This order can be granted to unmarried parents who are not in a relationship with each other, or to married parents who have filed for divorce or legal separation. There are three types of Washington Final Parentage Orders: parentage agreement, default parentage order, and paternity order. A parentage agreement is an agreement between the two parents that establishes their legal rights and responsibilities for the child. If both parents agree, a court will then enter a default parentage order that establishes the parent-child relationship. A paternity order is a court order that establishes the parent-child relationship when the father does not agree to a parentage agreement or if the identity of the father is in dispute.
