A Washington Temporary Restraining Order (TO) is a type of court order issued in Washington State that is designed to protect a person from potential harm or harassment. A TO may be issued when a person or entity has made a credible threat of violence or harm, or is engaging in harassment or stalking. A TO prohibits the person or entity from coming within a certain distance of the person or place that is being protected, and may also include additional restrictions, such as prohibiting contact with the person being protected. In Washington State, there are two types of Bros: Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVP Os) and Anti-Harassment Orders (Amos). DVP Os are issued to protect a person from someone they have a relationship with, including a spouse, partner, or family member. Amos are issued to protect a person from someone they do not have a relationship with.
