The Vermont Agreement To Enter Into Parent Coordination (VT APC) is a voluntary agreement that provides parents with an alternative to court for resolving disputes in regard to parenting time, decision-making, and communication. It is a legally binding contract that parents can enter into when they or the court decide that traditional mediation and negotiation are not appropriate. The VT APC sets out the roles and responsibilities of the parents and the Parent Coordinator, outlines the process that will be used for resolving conflict, and provides guidelines for communication between the parents. There are two types of Vermont Agreement To Enter Into Parent Coordination: Standard and Expedited. The Standard VT APC is used when the parents have been involved in a dispute that has lasted longer than six months and require additional support and guidance to resolve the dispute. The Expedited VT APC is used when the parents have a dispute that needs to be addressed quickly and the parents agree to use a shorter process. The VT APC is designed to provide a safe space for parents to resolve their disputes without resorting to court proceedings. It is a cost-effective way for parents to reach a mutually beneficial agreement and avoid expensive litigation.
