The Utah Request for Protective Order is a legal document used to protect individuals from abuse, harassment, or stalking. It is a court order that requires the abuser to stop all contact with the petitioner and stay away from the petitioner’s home, work, or school. There are two types of Utah Request for Protective Order. The first is an Ex Parte Protective Order, which is issued without the abuser being present and typically lasts for a short period of time. The second is a Full Hearing Protective Order which requires the abuser to attend a court hearing and is longer lasting. Both types of orders can include a variety of stipulations, such as prohibiting contact and communication, prohibiting abuse, and setting a temporary child custody arrangement.
