A Texas Final Judgment is a ruling by a court of law that settles a lawsuit and resolves all issues between the parties involved. It is a court document that is signed by a judge and filed with the county clerk. It is the final decision of the court and has the effect of a binding contract. Texas Final Judgments come in two varieties: (1) a Final Judgment on the Merits, which is a decision made after a trial and is the final ruling on the issues in dispute; and (2) a Default Judgment, which is a decision entered by the court when one of the parties fails to show up or respond to the lawsuit. Both types of Texas Final Judgments are binding and enforceable.
