Tennessee WILLS — Wills and Codicils: Duty to Produce (Probate) is a legal document issued in the State of Tennessee that outlines the requirements for producing wills and codicils in probate proceedings. The document outlines the duties of the person making the will, the person's executor or administrator, and the probate court. It also outlines the circumstances in which a will or codicil may be admitted to probate, the procedure for challenging the validity of a will or codicil, and the means of revoking a will or codicil. There are two types of Tennessee WILLS — Wills and Codicils: Duty to Produce (Probate): the “simple will” and the “codicil.” A simple will is a written document that outlines the testator’s wishes with regard to the disposition of his/her property upon death. A codicil is a document that amends or adds to an existing will. Both types of documents must be produced in probate proceedings in order to be valid.
