The Rhode Island Application For Admission To The Bar is an official document used to grant a lawyer the right to practice law in Rhode Island. The application must be completed and submitted to the Rhode Island Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness. There are two types of applications: the General Bar Application and the Limited Admission Application. The General Bar Application requires applicants to provide the court with their educational background, a list of professional references, and a character and fitness statement. The Limited Admission Application is for applicants who have already been admitted to practice law in another jurisdiction or for those with less than five years of legal experience. Both applications require applicants to submit a fee for review and an application for admission to the Rhode Island Bar Association.
