New York Physician's Request for Driver Review is a process used by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to evaluate the fitness of drivers who have been referred by their physician for medical review. There are three types of reviews: a medical report review, an in-person driver evaluation, and a road test. The medical report review requires that the physician submit a medical report that includes the patient's medical history, physical examination findings, and any relevant laboratory results. The in-person driver evaluation is a face-to-face meeting with a Driver Improvement Specialist (DIS) to discuss the driver's medical condition and driving ability. The road test is an assessment of the driver's driving abilities and skills.
