New York Attorney Exemption Certification is a process that allows attorneys licensed to practice in New York to be exempt from certain continuing legal education (CLE) requirements. This exemption is offered to attorneys who have been admitted to the New York State Bar for at least one year and have not been subject to disciplinary action or criminal conviction. There are three types of New York Attorney Exemption Certification: Professional Practice Certificate, Pro Bono Certificate, and Senior Practitioner Certificate. The Professional Practice Certificate exempts attorneys from the requirement to attend and complete professional practice courses. The Pro Bono Certificate exempts attorneys from the requirement to attend and complete pro bono courses. The Senior Practitioner Certificate exempts attorneys from the requirement to attend and complete courses in areas of practice related to their particular specialty.
