A New York Notice of Appearance and Demand is a legal document filed with the court in order to begin a civil lawsuit. It is a formal way of notifying the court and the other party involved in the case that an individual or entity is taking legal action. The document must be properly and accurately completed in order to be accepted by the court. There are two main types of New York Notice of Appearance and Demand: 1) General Notice of Appearance and Demand and 2) Special Notice of Appearance and Demand. A General Notice of Appearance and Demand is used when the person or entity filing the notice is initiating a lawsuit in New York State. Special Notice of Appearance and Demand is used when the person or entity filing the notice has been served with a summons and complaint in a lawsuit in New York State. Both types of Notice of Appearance and Demand must contain specific information, including the name of the court where the lawsuit is being filed, the case number, the names of the parties involved, the title of the document, the name of the party filing the document, and an address and contact information for the party filing the document. The Notice of Appearance and Demand must also be signed by the party filing the document.
