A New Hampshire Request for Appointment of Counsel Grand Jury Target/Witness or Trial Witness is a document filed by a person under investigation or charged with a crime in order to request the appointment of an attorney to represent them. This document is filed with the court and is generally used when a person cannot afford an attorney. There are two types of New Hampshire Request for Appointment of Counsel Grand Jury Target/Witness or Trial Witness: 1) Grand Jury Target/Witness and 2) Trial Witness. A Grand Jury Target/Witness is a person who has been identified by a grand jury as a potential target of a criminal investigation. A Trial Witness is a person who is called upon to testify at trial in order to provide evidence that is relevant to the case. In either situation, the Request for Appointment of Counsel document is used to request that an attorney be appointed to represent the person during the grand jury investigation or trial.
