An Operator's License (Class O) Driver's License authorizes a license holder to operate any motor vehicle, including a moped, All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and autocycle, except a motorcycle and commercial motor vehicle.

The Provisional Operator's Permit (POP) allows an individual to operate a motor vehicle unsupervised in Nebraska from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight. Individual may only drive unsupervised between 12 midnight and 6 a.m. if they are driving to or from home to work or a school activity.

Applicants must be at least 14-years-old, but no older than 16. A School Permit holder may operate a vehicle unsupervised when going between home and school or when transporting a family member to similar activities. Permitted drivers are also allowed to drive when accompanied by a licensed driver, 21 years or older.

When can I apply for a School Permit? You must have an School Learner's Permit (LPE) or Learner's Permit (LPD) permit for 2 months prior to applying for a school permit. Minimum age 14 years and 2 months, but must be younger than 16 years and three months of age to be issued.

One proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Status. It must state your name, date of birth, and identity. E.g., a certified birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, I-94 or I-94A, valid Permanent Resident Card, etc. principal address in Nebraska (at least 2 documents).

To get a driver license that is valid for five years, you'll need to pay $24. If you need a license that is valid for four years, you'll be required to pay $19. For a license valid for three years, you will need to pay $14. A two-year license will cost $10, and a license that is valid for one year will cost $5.

Costs and testing locations Common CDL costs in Nebraska are: $10.00 for a Commercial Learner's Permit; an additional $10.00 for any change of class, endorsement, or restriction to the CLP; and a Security Surcharge of $2.50 for each. $55.00, plus a $2.50 Security Surcharge for a 5-year CDL.
