A Minnesota Writ of Execution (Civil) is a court order that authorizes a county sheriff, or other authorized officer, to seize and sell a debtor's property to satisfy a judgment resulting from a civil action. This type of writ of execution is issued in the state of Minnesota. There are two types of Minnesota Writ of Execution (Civil): a General Writ of Execution and a Special Writ of Execution. The General Writ of Execution is used when a debtor has property that is not exempt from seizure, while the Special Writ of Execution is used to seize exempt property such as wages, funds held in accounts, or other assets. Both types of Writs of Execution must be issued by a court and must be served on the debtor and any other parties that may have an interest in the property.
