Michigan Child Support Services Application/Referral is a process for obtaining financial support from a non-custodial parent for minor children. The application can be completed online or in person, and requires the custodial parent to provide information about themselves and the non-custodial parent. Once the application is received, the Michigan Child Support Services Program will contact the non-custodial parent and attempt to establish an agreement on the amount of child support. There are two types of Michigan Child Support Services Application/Referral: voluntary agreement and court order. A voluntary agreement is an agreement between the two parties that is not legally binding, and does not require a court order. A court order is a legally binding agreement that requires the non-custodial parent to pay the court-determined amount of child support.
