The Michigan Uniform Spousal Support Order (RUSSO) is a legally binding document used in Michigan divorce proceedings to determine the amount of spousal support (alimony) one spouse is required to pay to the other. The RUSSO contains detailed instructions for the court to follow when calculating the amount of spousal support, including criteria for temporary and permanent support, the duration of payments, and how the payments should be made. There are two types of RUSSO orders: a Final Spousal Support Order (SSO) and a Temporary Support Order (TSO). The SSO is issued after the court has reviewed all the evidence and testimony presented during the divorce proceedings and determined the amount of spousal support to be paid. The TSO is issued during the divorce proceedings to provide financial support to the dependent spouse until the SSO is issued.
